Well I have made a decision. After much prayer and thought and council I will not seek ordination. At this time my ministry will be more effective as a lay person. I have been assured that I do have a ministry but I have a much different view of what the ministry of a deacon is than I see in the use of deacons in the diocese.

So my friends and family I need your support and prayers. I know we cover many different faith beliefs and practices. I also know we respect each others faith. I have been asked to consider entering the process to become a deacon. Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts and prayers as I go through this process.

So here it is a true oxymoron. A Conservative Jesuit. He has the reputations of being a Social Justice Bishop. If he is Social Justice and can reform the church even a bit it will be glorious.

So I may be crazy but I am out of work living on less than 800 a month and seriously thinking of buying a cute little house. It is off grid and would need a generator and batteries or solar and batteries as well as a fridg. But it is impossibly cute. Has Traver tine marble floor, Koa wood bar and a Japanese soaking tub. The rock work is to die for and he has had built a swimming pool. (needs liner) He also hand built a road into one of the pukas and has set up a cistern system for watering the plants. This is not a child friendly lot or house as it is very small and there are many pukas, but it is perfect for me. Oh and there is a spot for Rayne's Mongolian style yurt. The one she covets. My friend Cordelia thinks I have lost my mind it is way up the Mountain and she worries about me. But so far it is just a daydream unless Jason can carry a contract and doesn't want big payments or will lease it cheap. Will post pictures when he sends me some.

So it is a busy time. I moved into a really cute little apartment. I bought a new HP laptop and have learned how to do some things for myself, like change wireless networks. Am so proud of this old women. Still in Ocean View just not as low down. Have almost the same view even just from further away. Lost of kitties and really nice landlords.

So I moved to Hawaii to live in and care for my best friends house. I have been here almost a year and a half. I rented a furnished itty bitty teenie furnished, all utilities, even internet and cable provided apartment today. I move in next week. Haven't told my friend yet, did tell her I needed to move because our friendship is more important to me than living in her house. The apartment is there now and might not be in Dec when she will be getting ready to come over so I am moving. It is little and quite nice. And although it is only a few miles from where I now live it is a different world. I love it here but it is a harsh somewhat bleak environment, the new place is lush. It even has grass, very few people here have grass (the kind you mow, many have the kind you smoke). The gardens are glorious, there are lots of kitties. And oh yes my landlords live just up stairs and they are Canadians. NDP Canadians! From Vancouver. It will be good.

Long week in LA but a good one. Met some amazing people and had a really good time. Came home to a wonderful gift, rain. Lots of it, I got so wet unloading the car I had to change clothes. And the rain continued through the evening. It is amazing what rain does here. It is nice to be home and employed

I am leaving the Island tomorrow for the first time in a year and a half. Going to L A for a few days of training for my new part time job with the Census. One week a month for 2 years. Those are hours I can live with and it should be just enough to make a nice difference in my life. This is a short trip I will be back home on Friday afternoon. Just in time for the Kona crawl. Rush hour on 2 lane roads are interesting. (Except for right in the 2 big towns on the island all the roads are 2 lanes.)

Well, the surgeon has finally made me an appointment. Wed at 10am. Let's see I fell about 7:15am last Tuesday.......I guess a week plus is reasonable. In what universe? The pain gets worse each day but as someone with no insurance this is how it is.

In English that is Merry Christmas. This is my first Christmas in the tropics, I wish I could say I miss the snow and the cold but I definitely do not. May you all have a glorious Holiday whatever you celebrate and a wonder filled New Year.

It is lovely today, warm and clear. We had a hard rain yesterday and the desert is blooming. What a beautiful place to spend Christmas.

Rain

What a glorious day. It is cold, for Ranchos, and raining hard, really really hard. I even need to turn on inside lights to see. Thank you God we are in a long a viscous drought and this is manna from heaven. Of course on the down side I spent $200 on a load of water yesterday. If I had not bought water it might not have rained. The water for my house comes one of two ways I buy it or it rains and is collected in the tank by the catchment system. So the rain water is always used and there is still room for more water in the tank. Over flow, if it happens I will figure out a way to catch some of it and use it to fill the pond, or something. There is nothing quite a sweet as the sound of rain on a metal roof.

This is a simple wish of a glorious birthday for my lovely (wonderful and much loved, by me and others)daughter in law. You know who you are have a happy day.

Well I started a short term temporary job the end of April that was to end the end of May or early June. It ended yesterday. And I was told it may resume in January, that would be good it pays well and I hate job hunting it interferes with beach day (Monday) and other things like oh watching the feral cats try to catch birds. Any way I am happily out of work.

Two things seen by a friend that I must pass on because they brought me joy.

"Episcopalians....challenging fundamentalism since 1789"

and

"The Episcopal Church welcomes you....the Anglican communion, not so much."

When one goes to the beach for the first time in months one should remember to reapply the sunscreen. There are areas where I was not tan, now those areas are red. My forehead is pretty funny as only half of it is burned. Oh well it won't last long and then I will be more tan. Did I mention the dolphins and the sword fish in my earlier post. No, well there is this sword fish with an identity crisis who has been swimming with the dolphins for the last several months and Sondra finally saw it today when she swam out to them. The dolphins were jumping and spinning so we, who don't snorkel, could watch and see easily from the beach. God how I love living here.

We had a beach day today and I even went in the ocean, not once but twice. This is a huge deal for this woman. Moving water not necessarily something I am comfortable with.

I am about, maybe, to become the owner of something I have always said I did not want and could see no use of ever owning. A four wheel drive car, a Jeep Cherokee to be exact. Ok, why the change of heart. You should see some of the roads on this island. Most are good, but I know people who live on jeep trails that are called by street names. I am finally in a place where you need four wheel drive, oh yes, and there are close beaches I hear that are four wheel drive beaches. Not only is it four wheel drive but it has air conditioning. Another thing I have in the past forsowern. So where is this miricle coming from. My landlady has offered me the opportunity to buy her 2001 jeep for what she owes. If the credit union agrees I will do this. I left my much loved mazda pickup on the mainland so I will need something to drive here as I am staying. Now that that is, I hope, taken care of all I have to do is find a way to save ( make) enough money to start a tiny house. I love living here I am healther here than I have been in years and I will stay.

Am creating something. I am building a lava wall, it will be wide and tall as it must be a wind break (the wind never stops blowing here, something about trade winds) for the house and garden I will be building later. I am really doing this. At 63!

As I often done in the last few years I spent my birthday more of less by myself. Unlike some other times I had a wonderful day. Went to church at St. Jude this morning, worked on my rock wall location this afternoon then took myself out for what is with out question the best hamburger in the know world. A Mike's Special at the Desert Rose in Ocean View, Hawaii. All in all a lovely day.
